In case you missed it
Previous versions
Autodesk has launched Flame 2024 – the latest version of its finishing and VFX solution for film and TV productions. The software includes tools for compositing, advanced graphics, color grading, conform, editorial, and look development.
The 2024 version brings a new metadata overlay feature, which allows you to view shot metadata in context, directly in the Flame viewer UI, save presets, and share them. Additionally, the Burn-In Metadata tool got new options, including Start Frame, Handles, Timeline FX, and Batch Iteration.
Source media now has its own Start Frame metadata instead of a converted timecode value. It is decoupled from the timecode value that can be set inside the application.
Batch Paint has been updated so you can now apply changes to multiple strokes at once and track them in the Paint node. Autodesk also presented definable brush presets, a preference to set the default status of the Consolidate option, a cleaner user interface, and increased stability.
Another great change is support for native Apple silicon. Following Maya 2024, Flame is now available for a wider range of computers.
In contrast, Sparks plugin support and its API are no longer available for Flame and its products. You can still open Sparks plugins but can't edit them.
Flame 2024 is available for $610/month or $4,870/year. Find the full list of changes here and don't forget to join our 80 Level Talent platform and our Telegram channel, follow us on Instagram and Twitter, where we share breakdowns, the latest news, awesome artworks, and more.
