The studio reported adjustments in its other offices as well.
Avalanche Studios
Avalanche Studios, the developers of titles such as the Just Cause series, Mad Max, Ravenbound, and the recently canceled Contraband, decided to close its branch in Liverpool and reduce its workforce.
The news comes from the studio's official announcement, stating that given the "current changes to our business and the industry," Avalanche reviewed how to best ensure its "long-term success." The changes will affect the employees at the closing Liverpool office and at the studio's branches in Malmö and Stockholm:
"This review has led us to the difficult conclusion that we must make changes to our staffing and locations. As a result, we are proposing to close our Liverpool studio, and to initiate a collective consultation process, as required by UK law. This will impact all Avalanchers in Liverpool. The changes will also impact our other studio locations in Malmö and Stockholm, where we will reduce our workforce and restructure the teams to address our games' needs."
The company shared that its focus is to "offer full support to all Avalanchers during this challenging time" and that in spite of the structural changes, the studio remains "deeply committed to providing amazing games to [our] passionate player communities."
Avalanche Studios Group has three creative divisions: Avalanche Studios, known for Just Cause, Mad Max, and Rage 2, the Expansive Worlds studio (theHunter), and Systemic Reaction, known for Generation Zero. In August, the Avalanche decided to stop the active development of one of its titles, Contraband, being created in collaboration with Xbox Game Studios Publishing, as the creators "evaluate the project's future."
