You Can Get Avowed on Battle.net with 1.3 Million Warcraft Gold

If you are not determined to be a day-one player for Obsidian’s $70 fantasy RPG Avowed, you might want to consider another way to obtain it without spending real cash. The list of the game’s launch platforms includes a less common one, Battle.net, a Blizzard-owned launcher, and you can purchase Avowed using World of Warcraft in-game currency there. 

To do this, you’ll first need to obtain the WoW Tokens, which cost $20 each, and put them in the Auction House, waiting for other players to purchase them with their Warcraft Gold. Then you can exchange the Gold for Battle.net balance, but with Blizzard’s $5 tax cut, you’ll have $15 worth of Battle.net Balance left. The balance can be used to purchase anything Blizzard sells in the shop, including video games. The $70 game costs around five WoW Tokens, and per the Token Price listed on wowauction.us, each Token equates to 262,220 Gold at the time of writing this article, making the game’s value more than a whopping 1.3 million Gold.

It appears to be rare for Blizzard to offer non-Blizzard games on Battle.net, but now that both Blizzard and Avowed’s developer Obsidian are siblings in the big Microsoft family, it holds some reasonability. 

Let's not forget that, as revealed by Jason Schreier’s new book about Blizzard, the company did have a plan "to turn Battle.net into a digital store for a variety of PC games,” which could mean a major rival to Steam. Therefore, after Microsoft acquired Blizzard, they could decide to expand the platform’s capabilities with some new attempts. 
 
As for players’ reaction, some consider this way to obtain Avowed a complex and controversial choice, while others argue that it does offer an alternative to real cash purchases for those hesitated to buy the game at its original price.
