Axiom Solver for Houdini Updated

Matt Puchala released a new build of the Axiom solver for Houdini.

The latest version doesn't bring many new features, but rather focuses on performance and stability improvements. What is more, gravity can now affect fuel, plus the tool is now distributed as a new and “hopefully easier to install” Houdini package.

Updates:

  • Gravity can now affect fuel.
  • Project non-divergent 50% faster. 10% faster overall.
  • VDB leaf activation is more reliable / less confusing. The previous advanced settings for input VDBs have been removed because they are now fully automated.
  • Solver will detect non-finite values on incoming VDBs. It will set any non-finite values to 0.
  • Fixed nanoVDB bug on macOS / AMD GPUs.
  • Axiom Source Shape’s direction force now recognizes the transform of the shape itself.

For those of you not familiar with the tool, it is sparse, GPU accelerated volumetric fluid solver for computer graphics and visual effects. The solver includes support for SideFX’s Houdini on Windows, macOS, and Linux.
