What a thoughtful approach.
LocalThunk, known for the indie hit roguelike deckbuilder Balatro, shared an interesting tidbit from the game's creation process. According to LocalThunk, 30 out of the 150 Jokers in the game originated from a slip of the tongue by someone at the game’s publisher, Playstack.
Although the creator had specified that there were 120 Jokers, it was mistakenly mentioned in a meeting that there were 150. While correcting others’ mistakes can be straightforward, the developer prefers a more thoughtful approach that, on the one hand, avoids embarrassing anyone and, on the other hand, adds more content to the game.
When asked which 30 Jokers were added in that circumstance, LocalThunk couldn’t remember all but offered a page and said, “most of this page would be in the ether if I spoke up.” Well, fans are now even more grateful for him not correcting the mistake, as some of these out-of-blue Jokers turn out to be fans' favorites.
A great game is mainly shaped by the great mind behind the creator, but I just love how these incidents add the icing on the cake.
