So proud to be one of them.
A time span of ten months could probably just mean getting 300 days older for most of us, but it could be one filled with a series of record-breaking events, like for Balatro.
Just one month after its launch, the one million copies milestone was reached, and it feels like yesterday when the news of its two million copies milestone came out. And now the game has sold another 1.5 million more, reaching a whopping 3.5 million. A game that LocalThunk created for himself and a few friends has somehow made him the biggest Joker.
Adding to this figure, Balatro has won three awards out of the five nominations at this year’s The Game Awards: Best Independent Game, Best Debut Indie Game, and Best Mobile Game, thanks to its mobile version that was released in September.
The growing love from the community for the game is not only a result of its fun gameplay (I still can’t figure out how I spent four hours on it the first time touching it) but also of how the developer, LocalThunk, kept surprising the fans.
