Baldur's Gate 3 Gets a Huge Update with 12 New Subclasses in 2025

Baldur's Gate 3 will get a huge update, known as Patch 8, with 12 new subclasses, cross-play, and photo mode in 2025.

The update adds one new subclass for each of the existing classes, which are Bard, Barbarian, Cleric, Druid, Paladin, Fighter, Monk, Ranger, Rogue, Sorcerer, Warlock, and Wizard. The upcoming subclasses feature novel abilities, VFX, and animations.

The list of new subclasses:

• Bard – College of Glamour
• Barbarian – Path of Giants
• Cleric – Death Domain
• Druid – Circle of Stars
• Paladin – Oath of the Crown
• Fighter – Arcane Archer
• Monk – Drunken Master
• Ranger – Swarmkeeper
• Rogue – Swashbuckler
• Sorcerer – Shadow Magic
• Warlock – Hexblade
• Wizard – Bladesinging.

The cross-play feature will allow you to enjoy multiplayer with your friends using different platforms, such as Windows, Mac, PlayStation, or others that run the game. With the update, you will be able to invite your friends to join your cross-play lobby directly, regardless of platform, and find available multiplayer lobbies with friends on other systems using the Larian Network.

Photo mode offers a variety of customization and editing options for in-game photos. There are camera, lens, and scene settings, along with post-processing effects, frames, and stickers. You will be able to set up a frame with a camera position you like, adjust Field of View, Exposure, Depth of Field, and Focus, choose a set facial expression and a character's pose from a range of over 40 static and animated postures, and select a frame or a sticker to add final touches to your photo.

Larian Studios said that in January, it will conduct stress-testing of the new update and will share details in the upcoming Community Update #31.

Recently, Baldur's Gate 3 average number of concurrent and active players increased compared to the previous year, most likely due to the recently launched mod support, as supposes Larian Studios Publishing Director Michael Douse.

Baldur's Gate 3 was Game of the Year at The Game Awards in 2023 and was nominated for Best Community Support this year.
