Baldur's Gate 3 Will Take 122 GB On Launch And You Can't Preload It

The team also shared details on ultrawide monitors and specs for 4K gaming, plus revealed Twitch bonuses, and more.

Larian Studios published an article on Steam sharing important information ahead of the release of Baldur's Gate 3. First, the team shared that the final version of Baldur's Gate 3 will have a download size of approximately 122 GB.

The studio noted that owners of the game will not be able to preload it so you'll have to wait until August 3rd at 5 pm Gent time (the studio's time zone) or your non-Belgian timezone equivalent. Preloading is not available for all Early Access games on Steam, and Baldur's Gate 3 is no exception. "Please note that your Early Access save games will not be compatible at launch," wrote Larian. "However, so much has changed that it’s really worth it to start afresh."

Baldur's Gate 3 will be playable on the Steam Deck at release. Larian expects the game to achieve full compatibility with Valve's portable PC by August 3. The project will also support ultrawide monitors – the team posted a screenshot showcasing how the image expands on such displays.
To play the game at a native 4K resolution, a PC with a GeForce 4080 or 4090 graphics card, or a similarly performing model from AMD, will be required. Larian noted that with the use of DLSS, the game can be played at 4K resolution on less powerful computers. Support for FSR 2.0 will be added closer to September 6. To play at 1440p and 60 fps, a PC with a "good" processor and a GeForce 3060 GPU will be required.
In celebration of the release, Larian will launch a Twitch promotion where players can obtain special cosmetic items for their camp. To participate, viewers must watch qualifying Twitch streams for two hours between August 3 and August 17 as part of the Twitch Drops program.

The developers also showcased what the hidden Illithid ability tree looks like:
