Bandai Namco is Getting Sued Because Elden Ring is Too Hard

Filthy casual.

FromSoftware

We all knew that it would happen eventually, considering the number of eccentric characters out there, and the day has finally come – someone has sued Bandai Namco, the publisher of Elden Ring, over the game being too difficult.

The plaintiff, Evan Forrester Waugh, unleashed an angry tirade on 4chan, accusing Namco of making the soulslike way too hard not only for casual players but even for seasoned tryhards. What makes this situation even more bizarre is that Evan seems to genuinely believe that there's an entire other game hidden within Elden Ring, as well as in other FromSoftware projects, that players can't access due to, you guessed it, over-the-top difficulty. According to the scrub frustrated gamer, the trial is set to take place in about two months, on September 25, 2024.

As crazy as it all sounds, it seems that the case is indeed genuine, according to UniCourt. A Small Claim lawsuit against Namco was indeed filed by Evan on July 1, naming the company itself, CFO for Bandai Namco Amusement America Daniel Anelli, and former Board Director of Namco Bandai Holdings Kiyoshi Saito as the defendants. The lawsuit was filed in Barnstable, Massachusetts, and currently holds a Pending status.

With the lawsuit confirmed, one can only wonder what the judge's decision is going to be if the trial actually takes place. Will Namco and FromSoftware be forced to make the beloved game and its recently released DLC more accessible for casuals? Will Evan be sentenced to three years of git gud? I guess only time will tell.
