Batman Animated Series to Air on HBO Max

The Dark Knight returns in an animated form almost 30 years after the premiere of Batman: The Animated Series.

The DC comics-based animated series is being brought back by HBO Max and Cartoon Network. Bruce Timm, J.J. Abrams, and Matt Reeves are working on the brand new Batman animation. As the creative trio shared in their joint statement, "the series will be thrilling, cinematic, and evocative of Batman’s noir roots while diving deeper into the psychology of these iconic characters."

Bruce Timm had previously co-created and produced the original Batman: The Animated Series released in the '90s. Matt Reeves is currently directing the highly anticipated reboot from Warner Bros., The Batman, starring Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne.

As Sam Register, Warner Bros. Animation and Cartoon Network Studios president stated  “Batman: The Animated Series was a masterpiece that shaped the perception of the character for an entire generation of fans. It is in that spirit that we are bringing together three master storytellers in J.J., Matt, and Bruce – each with their own intuitive understanding and affection for the character – to create a new series that will continue in the same groundbreaking legacy.”
