Watch the animated video for OK Go's Impulse Purchase and download the production file.
Blender Studio's back at it, this time with an open movie that features a procedural, live animation setup, powered by Geometry Nodes, OSC, and classic keyframing. The unique visual experience, created in collaboration with OK Go, Lucas Zanotto, and Will Anderson, is not only available to watch: you can play with the technology yourself.
This project was created entirely within a single .blend file, playing back in real-time in the viewport. Please note that it's available exclusively to Blender Studio subscribers. Along with the file, there's documentation outlining the overall design of the setup so you can get inspired and create your own version. Download the production file here.
Even if you can't support Blender Studio yet, the live puppeteering demo file is available for free to everyone. Simply follow the step-by-step instructions to set it up on your computer. A relatively powerful smartphone (Android or iOS) is required for the best experience.
Next week, Blender Studio plans to release an interview with co-director Lucas Zanotto, covering the design process behind the animated video and offering insights into his work and artistic journey. Then, at Blender Conference 2025 in a few weeks, co-director Will Anderson will present a detailed talk on the video's production, diving into more details about the procedural setup, the live puppeteering, and more.
