Bethesda's Pete Hines Says They Won't Give Up on Redfall

"We didn't get the start we wanted, but it's still a fun game… and we're going to keep working on it."

Bethesda Softworks publishing head Pete Hines has confirmed that Bethesda and Arkane are not giving up on Redfall, even though the game "didn't start right". Besides, he's confident that ten years from now there will be people who find the game on Game Pass.

Pete Hines has noted that it's not the first time when the company has faced a similar situation. Previously, they took some time to fix certain bugs in the games, and the effort paid off in the end. This time is no different.

"The Elder Scrolls Online's PC launch was not flawless but we stuck with it. Now it's like this insanely popular multiplatform. It's the same with Fallout 76. Redfall is no different for us. Okay, we didn't get the start we wanted, but it's still a fun game… and we're going to keep working on it", said Pete Hines.

According to Hines, the developers of Redfall are committed to adding support for 60 fps in the console version. Besides, he believes that the game will continue to attract an audience even in the future, thanks to Game Pass. This serves as another motivation for refining the game.

Redfall received criticism at its launch due to uninspired missions, lackluster enemy AI, and technical issues. This resulted in a low score of 4/10 from critics, and the troubled development process raised concerns. The negative reception prompted executives such as Phil Spencer and Matt Booty to address Xbox's involvement in the disappointing release of the game. However, despite these challenges, Hines maintains optimism about Redfall's future. Bethesda is committed to ongoing development, striving to make necessary improvements and transform the game into a fun and engaging experience for players.
