Black Myth: Wukong's Great Success Reportedly Helps Phantom Blade Zero Get New Funding

More investors are eying the "new golden egg" of AAA games in China.

S-GAME

The huge success of Black Myth: Wukong is like a shining star that attracts people’s attention to the sky and other stars in the same realm. It’s reported that Phantom Blade Zero, an upcoming samurai Soulslike with Chinese cultural elements, has received additional funding.

According to different sources of Daniel Camilo, a publishing and gaming consultant living in China, Phantom Blade Zero received "a substantial amount of extra investments and funding thanks to the success of Wukong."

Daniel had made it clear that the new funding was not directly triggered by Wukong. "The tremendous success of Wukong in China in particular signaled to many investors that AAA gaming is the new golden egg."

Game Science

It's obvious that not only one investor has been interested in helping develop the game or is probably hoping to get more returns from the investment of the hot trend of AAA games in China. The S-GAME studio was said to have to "turn down investors after Wukong released, as so many came rushing to join this new wave of AAA Chinese development hype."

Phantom Blade Zero is scheduled to be released this year, on PC and PlayStation 5. The same as Game Science did for Black Myth: Wukong, S-GAME also released a new gameplay trailer for the game as the Chinese Year of the Snake approaches.
