Blender Tool That Gives You Fully Controllable Bend Deformations
Better Bend is artist-friendly, predictable, and non-destructive.
Nate Jolly wasn't satisfied with Blender's Simple Deform, so he decided to build a better alternative: Better Bend (Bender was right there). Better Bend is a Geometry Nodes-based bending tool with viewport gizmos, allowing you to control the deformation directly in the viewport instead of constantly adjusting numeric values, though those are still available if you need them. As a node-based tool, it integrates seamlessly into procedural workflows.
"One of the biggest differences is control over the bend region. With Simple Deform, the bend is always calculated over the entire length of the object. With Better Bend, you can define where the bend happens and how it accumulates. You can bend a specific section to a set angle and have the rest straighten out – or keep bending past that point if you want," commented the artist.
With Better Bend, you can control the deformation region and direction, bend geometry generated inside Geometry Nodes, bend multiple objects at once, and bring entire collections and deform them procedurally. Please note that the tool requires Blender 5.0 or later.
The creator hopes Better Bend will be useful for motion graphics, explainer videos, and UI/UX-style animations where clean, controllable bends are important, and welcomes questions or feedback from the community.
