The development of the remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is moving from Aspyr to Saber Interactive, according to Bloomberg. Insiders say the game will now be made by one of Saber Interactive’s Eastern European studios.
The news about the development being put on hold surfaced last month, with Aspyr firing the game’s art director and design director. It was then rumored Saber would take over the project, and it seems to be true.
Interestingly, last week, Embracer said in a financial report that one of its AAA titles had transitioned to another studio within the Group, although it didn't name the project. The report states it was done "to ensure the quality bar is where we need it to be for the title."
The decision probably means some delays to give the new studio time to familiarize itself with the code, although the game doesn't even have a release date yet, so we might have to wait for quite some time.
