It will launch in fiscal year 2026 but not concurrently with GTA 6.

Borderlands 4 is announced to be released in 2025, but there has been no further detail on the specific date yet. The recent earnings call of Take-Two, owner of Gearbox, unveils the potential release window for the new co-op looter shooter.
The company's Q2 2025 earnings report states: "With many exciting new titles coming in Fiscal 2026 – including Grand Theft Auto VI in the fall, Borderlands 4, and Mafia: The Old Country – we expect to create long-term value for our shareholders." Thus, the report confirms that Borderlands 4 will come in fiscal 2026, which starts in April 2025 and ends in March 2026.
Apart from this, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick also shared some details on the Borderlands 4 release window. In a recent interview, he noted that the game's launch would not overlap with GTA 6, which is scheduled for fall 2025. He said: "I think it’s safe to say that we wouldn't, and no one would, stack up huge releases unnecessarily." So, we should expect the release of new Borderlands no earlier than next April and not around the fall release of Grand Theft Auto 6.
Gearbox
Recently, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford invited a fan with a terminal diagnosis Caleb McAlpine to Gearbox Headquarters to see Borderlands 4 early, not long after he expressed his wish to see the game before its launch. Caleb's story is described in more detail on GoFundMe.
