A Borderlands fan diagnosed with terminal cancer asks if he could play Borderlands 4 earlier because he is unsure if he would be able to do it at the time of the release.
Caleb McAlpine, a 37-year-old Borderlands fan, shared on Reddit that he was diagnosed with terminal cancer and was given from 7 to 12 months and under two years if chemotherapy treatment works to slow the progression of the disease. He says that he is a "die-hard Borderlands fan" and is unsure if he "will be around for Borderlands 4." In his post, Caleb asks if anyone knows how to get in touch with Gearbox to see if there is a way to play the game early. "Long shot but thought I would try," Caleb writes.
Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford is now aware of the post and said that Caleb and him were chatting via e-mail and they were going to do "whatever we can to make something happen."
Caleb's post elicited an intense response from the audience and has gotten 2.1 million views, 5,400 shares, and 16,000 upvotes. His story is described in more detail on gofundme.
