Breaking the Fourth Wall with DALL-E's Outpainting Feature

Paul Trillo imagined what different film sets looked like using AI.

In case you missed it, last week, OpenAI introduced a new Outpainting feature to their text-to-image AI tool DALL-E. Capable of taking into account the original picture's existing visual elements, Outpainting allowed DALL-E's users to greatly expand any image while maintaining the context of the original.

Just one week after, many AI enthusiasts already got the hang of the new tool and started using it to its fullest potential. One of the said enthusiasts is Paul Trillo, an Artist, Director, and AI connoisseur who managed to utilize Outpainting to break the fourth wall. The artist took three film endings and expanded the field of view, showing what the film sets could have looked like behind the scenes.

You can check out more of Paul's AI-powered projects here. Also, don't forget to join our Reddit page and our Telegram channel, follow us on Instagram and Twitter, where we share breakdowns, the latest news, awesome artworks, and more.
