Breakdown: Creating an Arcane-Inspired Effect

Learn how to create a cool visual effect in Niagara with this short breakdown posted by Chris Sayers.

A couple of days ago, VFX Artist Chris Sayers had revealed a fantastic visual effect that combines both 2D and 3D. According to the artist, the purple explosion effect had been inspired by Netflix's Arcane show. The project had been made using Maya, Adobe Animate, and Unreal Engine's next-generation VFX system Niagara.

Soon after that, Chris also released a 6-part breakdown, explaining the working process behind the effect. In this breakdown, the artist explained his work with textures, showed how the rotation was set up, talked about working with Niagara, and more.
