Breakdown: Death Stranding-Style Hologram Recreated With UE5

VFX & Technical Artist HeyYo released a detailed article and downloadable project files for their DS-inspired hologram, which can be used on any mesh.

Inspired by the holograms in Kojima Productions' Death Stranding, VFX & Technical Artist HeyYo, also known as Yohanashima, decided to tackle the challenge of recreating a similar effect with Unreal Engine 5 before the introduction of chiral communication.

While most holograms are created using shaders, HeyYo's hologram utilizes Niagara. By employing particles, the artist was able to deliver a noisy, low-signal atmosphere, broadening the range of expression. See the in-game reference for the effect below:

This hologram works on any mesh with a little adjusting of some parameters, and you can purchase the project files with samples of both Skeletal Mesh and Static Mesh by clicking this link.
