Brick Generator Set Up in Houdini without Using VEX

Aleksandr Silantev shows his Houdini experimentations.

Aleksandr Silantev, environment artist at the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. developer GSC Game World, hones his skills further when he has spare time, exploring Houdini. Its VEX language isn't easy for him to master, but he already has some impressive results to show.

"I have never been interested in programming languages before and when I look at the code I see unknown languages of extraterrestrial civilizations," he confessed.

Silantev presented a brick generator made in Houdini but without VEX. He wanted to "learn the basic nodes of Houdini and then optimize them with VEX, to better understand the advantages and disadvantages of both methods."

The project already looks good, but I'm sure the artist will create something outstanding when he's done. He promises "more interesting info" soon, so follow him on LinkedIn to catch up.
