Build 2D Game Levels by Drawing Tiles with This Free Web-Based Editor

Sprite Fusion is "Figma, but for game design."

Game development is not easy, and getting started can be a heavy task without proper guidance. Thankfully, you can now make levels for your next game easily with Sprite Fusion, a free web-based level editor created by Hugo Duprez.

Sprite Fusion allows you to set up 2D tilemaps using tilesets. It's simple: import the tiles, copy the parts you want with the left mouse button, and "draw" with them. If you don't like the result, just erase the tiles with the right mouse click. Add more layers to make sure you don't delete anything valuable and then export the project to Unity and Godot or save it as JSON or PNG.

Duprez calls Sprite Fusion "Figma, but for game design," and you can see why: it's easy to assemble a scene with a couple of clicks, and the best part is you don't have to download anything (and, well, it's free.) The tool has an auto-tile system and supports collision, so you should give it a try.

This is not Duprez's first creation. He has also launched Texture Lab, an AI-powered tool that generates seamless textures based on text prompts, a plug-in to automatically name Figma layers, a program to export sine waves as SVG, and the Niche Generator – a business starter kit.
