Building Tree Canopies In Houdini With Lasso Tool

Anna Molamphy showcased an elegant approach to branch generation.

Houdini Artist Anna Molamphy showcased a demo of her latest project, which utilizes viewport strokes to dynamically construct and shape tree canopies.

As she explained, with this custom lasso, a volume is generated and updated with each stroke based on a few things, such as intersecting shapes/mass, stroke size, and so on, to set the depth profiles. The volume is then used as a guide/bound for the subsequent generations.
