It has been a while since Bungie's extraction shooter Marathon was announced, and there hardly was any news related to the game. Recently, data miners have found hints at Marathon's pre-orders in an update for Destiny 2.
A few days ago, an update for Episode Revenant was published, introducing a lot of new content to the game. First spotted by Game Post, data miners discovered in the game files a text string reading "v820.offers.entitlements.d2.marathon.preorder," which suggests that pre-orders for Marathon might launch in Q1 2025.
The number at the beginning of the text string refers to Destiny 2's expansion: v800 stands for The Final Shape, v810 corresponds with the current episode, Revenant, and v820 implies Episode Heresy, which is scheduled for next February. So, there are suggestions that Marathon will also be released around this time. However, Bungie didn't officially announce anything related to this.

First announced in May 2023, Marathon is a sci-fi PVP extraction shooter reminiscent of Escape From Tarkov. Recently, it was revealed that Sony will be selling the game for $40, which also hints at the possible upcoming reveal.
