Byzantine Empire Meets The Fifth Element in This Stunning Animation

Max Bedulenko has unveiled a new steampunk futuristic 3D environment.

Max Bedulenko, a well-known Digital Artist specializing in unique-looking 3D environment concepts, continues to impress his fans by imagining something you definitely don't see every day – a futuristic steampunk version of the cradle of Eastern Orthodox Christianity, the Byzantine Empire.

Dubbed The Holy Quarter, Max's new masterpiece combines classic iconography with flying cars, sci-fi buildings, and cyberpunk/The Fifth Element vibes, resulting in a truly one-of-a-kind visual experience hinging on the border of the past and the future. True to form, the artist utilized Blender to set up the 3D models, animations, and the easy-to-miss distortion effect where the flying cars pass.

Interestingly, The Holy Quarter seems to be a continuation of Max's earlier artwork, presented several years ago. Previously, the creator employed Blender to imagine what modern Constantinople, as well as its Armenian District, would look like if it were still the capital of the Byzantine Empire:

Besides Constantinople, Max also imagined sci-fi versions of other famous cities, including Cairo, Vienna, and Lisbon among others:
