Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare 2 Is Reportedly in the Works at Sledgehammer Games

That's according to insider Ralph Valve who claims Advanced Warfare 2 will be a return to a "more fast-paced sci-fi shooter" and will be focused on the original game's "frenzied sense of movement."

Sledgehammer Games, the Activision Blizzard-owned studio that was most recently responsible for Call of Duty: Vanguard, is reportedly working on a sequel to 2014's Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare.

That's according to insider Ralph Valve, who previously reported on details for the upcoming Modern Warfare II that proved accurate. In a report for What If Gaming, Valve claimed that Advanced Warfare 2 will be a return to a "more fast-paced sci-fi shooter" and will be focused on the original game's "frenzied sense of movement."

Valve also stated that initially, the Sledgehammer team was set to release several sequels to Vanguard that would have developed the stories of the game's characters. However, following the relatively poor performance of the shooter, plans changed and the developer was tasked with pitching a new idea.

The sequel to Advanced Warfare, according to Valve, will be released in 2025, that is, one year after the release of the new part of Black Ops from Treyarch.

Valve's claim that Sledgehammer is currently working on the next Advanced Warfare was later corroborated by insider TheGhostOfHope. However, Call of Duty news site CharlieIntel has refuted the claim that the studio is developing Advanced Warfare 2 at the moment.

"I have heard that there is no Advanced Warfare 2 currently in development at Sledgehammer Games, despite the rumors today," CharlieIntel wrote in a tweet that was later retweeted by gaming insider Tom Henderson. "Not fully clear yet what Sledgehammer Games is working on."
