Canceled Iron Man Game Resurfaces After 21 Years

Take a look at its screenshots and footage.

An Iron Man game, canceled in 2003 and forgotten, has appeared online thanks to GenePool Software's former developer Kevin Edwards, who shared a video and some screenshots from "The Invincible Ironman".

According to Edwards, the game, created on a new engine for PC, Xbox, and PS2 after X2: Wolverine's Revenge, was in development for about half a year when it was shut down by Activision together with the studio itself. Alas, he doesn't know for sure why it was shelved, although he has an idea.

"We never got to hear the exact reason(s) why they canned it. The film being delayed was a big one, or perhaps they didn't think the game was good enough and therefore didn't want to fund it further. Or perhaps some other dev was lined up to get it instead."

The world saw another Invincible Iron Man in a 2002 game developed by Torus Games for Game Boy Advance and published by Activision. There was also an animated movie with the same name in 2007. All in all, it would have been nice to receive this gem, but now we're just left to wonder what went wrong.
