Capcom Canceled Lecture on Monster Hunter Wilds Development
The calling off of the event is allegedly due to harassment and threats directed at the company's staff.

Capcom called off the lecture on Monster Hunter Wilds' optimization at CEDEC 2025, the Computer Entertainment Developers Conference that will be held in Japan. This was reportedly because of harassment and targeted threats directed at the company's staff over the game's performance issues, Automaton says.
The lecture was titled "Making Monster Hunter Wilds run smoothly! Everything you need to know about optimization" and included the information on technicalities of adjusting performance on real-life examples from the development of the game, with covering challenges concerning CPU, GPU, and memory load.
The company didn't name the reason for the cancelation, but there's an opinion that it might be because of the recent backlash on the title. On June 30, the game received a major update, and after, the players started mentioning frame rate drops and other bugs. Moreover, on July 4, Capcom issued a statement, in which it confirmed the harassment against its staff, including targeted threats. The company also stated that legal measures will be taken in response to severe harassment of its staff.

Monster Hunter Wilds, launched on February 28, faced immense success right away, with almost one million concurrent players on Steam on its release day and 10 million copies sold within one month. Therefore, the recent updates and resulting backlash stand in contrast to the game's initial success.
