CD Projekt Red Reveals More Information About Its Upcoming Projects

The developer spilled the beans about the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel, an upcoming The Witcher trilogy, a brand new IP, and more.

During its Group Strategy Update, CD Projekt Red, a development studio known for producing Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher game series, provided an extensive overview of its long-term strategy, revealing tons of information about new games currently in development.

With Cyberpunk 2077, which had a mixed reception upon release back in 2020, finally becoming beloved by gamers and critics alike and beating record after record in terms of its playerbase, another game set in the same universe, whether a prequel or a sequel, was only a matter of time. Thanks to CDPR, such predictions came true, with the company announcing that there will indeed be the next Cyberpunk game. Codenamed Orion, the game promises to "take the Cyberpunk franchise further and continue harnessing the potential of this dark future universe."

Moreover, the developer announced that they are planning to release not only one but three new games set in The Witcher universe, creating a completely new AAA RPG trilogy. The first game of the new saga, codenamed Polaris, is the one that was announced back in March and has since entered the pre-production phase.

Two other The Witcher games, codenamed Canis Majoris and Sirius, will not be developed directly by CDPR, with the former's developer being an unknown external studio and The Molasses Flood, the creators of The Flame in the Flood and Drake Hollow, being in charge of the latter. According to CD Projekt, The Witcher Sirius will differ from all the previous games in the series, "offering multiplayer gameplay on top of a single-player experience."

Lastly, the company unveiled Hadar, an entirely new IP being created directly by CDPR. The developer commented that, at the moment, the project is in its infancy, stating that they "are not developing any game yet, but working exclusively on the foundation for this new setting."
