The recent Investor Day presentation has brought a lot of news, featuring Cyberpunk 2077 having reached a milestone, when this futuristic action-adventure game surpassed 25 million copies sold, which happened faster than Witcher 3 did, or the game getting a live-action adaptation that will be created in collaboration with True Detective and Mr. Robot producer and the studio behind The Revenant and Spotlight Anonymous Content.
Another piece of news that the latest presentation brought was that CD Projekt Red's CEO, Adam Kiciński, announced his departure from the current position starting January 1, 2024. He will move on to the new role of Chief Strategy Officer until 2025.
Assuming his new role, Kicinski will be responsible for overseeing the operations of CD Projekt Red and providing recommendations and resolutions within the broader CD Projekt Capital Group. Interestingly, Marcin Iwiński, the Co-founder and former joint CEO of CD Projekt, coincidentally joined the same supervisory board in October. This development occurred as CD Projekt Red expanded its presence by establishing a new studio in Boston, contributing to the development of the extensive lineup of upcoming Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077 games.

Kicinski has been an integral part of CD Projekt since its establishment in 1994, alongside founders Marcin Iwiński and his brother, Michał Kicinski. At that time, the Polish studio operated under the name CD Projekt and primarily focused on localizing games, including the initial two Baldur's Gate titles. Following a rebranding in 2002, they became CD Projekt Red and ventured into independent game development, releasing the first installment of The Witcher series a few years later.
Throughout his extensive tenure of nearly 30 years with the CDRP, Kicinski has navigated the company through numerous triumphs and challenges. From the resounding success of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in 2015 to the turbulent launch of Cyberpunk 2077 in 2020 and its subsequent redemption, highlighted by the recent release of the Phantom Liberty DLC, Kicinski has played a vital role in shaping CD Projekt's journey.
Speaking of Kiciński's replacement, from January 1, 2024, Adam Badowski, the Creative Director, and Michal Nowakowski, the Commercial Director, will take over as co-CEOs. They will assume shared responsibilities in leading the company.
