CDPR's developers claim that "there's been a lot of work done for the past couple of years" and the working culture at the company improved significantly.
On Tuesday, CD Projekt RED shared its plans for future releases revealing that the developers are currently working on six news games simultaneously – four new Witcher games, the next Cyberpunk title, and the studio's first original IP codenamed Hadar.
Following the news, many wondered how the studio that previously developed one game at a time will cope with such a busy schedule and how this will affect employees, especially given that CD Projekt RED is known for the troubled development of The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077.
However, as the studio's developers note, the culture at the company improved significantly since the times when it was working on The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077. After a number of people started to express concerns about the working conditions at CD Projekt RED, the studio's franchise and lore designer Patrick Mills took to Twitter to explain that CDPR has done a lot of work to make the working conditions better.
"I can say that there's been a lot of work done for the past couple of years to try and fix those problems and make working here more sustainable and humane towards the workers," Mills wrote. "It won't ever be perfect and there's still stuff I'd like to see changed, but I'm optimistic for the future and I'd still rather work here than most other AAA studios."
Mills also noted that "making games is never easy" and big AAA companies may have issues with workplace culture. He added that he's seen different examples of how the work is organized in different companies and stated that CDPR's working culture is one of the "better" examples.
CDPR's acting lead level designer Miles Tost agreed with his colleague saying that "there's never been a better time to be a RED" and sharing that he is confident that the situation will only get better.
