CD Projekt Red recently hosted a Night City Wire event where they provided an update on Cyberpunk 2077 2.0, an upcoming free update aimed at overhauling and improving various gameplay elements, and Phantom Liberty, a "spy-thriller expansion" for Cyberpunk 2077 set to release on September 26, 2023.
During the event, the studio released a new cinematic trailer for Phantom Liberty, announced the release date for the 2.0 update, showcased upcoming gameplay enhancements, introduced an online build planner to help players learn about new perks and attributes, and more.
The Night City Wire event commenced with a breathtaking cinematic trailer dedicated to Phantom Liberty, providing more insights into the character Solomon Reed, played by Idris Elba, and his relationship with Song So Mi, a.k.a. Songbird:
After the trailer, Idris Elba himself made a special appearance on Night City Wire and delved into the DLC and his nuanced character, explaining how Reed was created and sharing some insight regarding the motion capture process. He also provided additional details about Night City's new Dogtown district, which serves as the backdrop for the expansion, and explained why the "path of a secret agent ain't an easy gig":
CDPR also presented a behind-the-scenes look at the recording sessions for Phantom Liberty – the expansion's theme song performed by Dawid Podsiadło.:
Subsequently, the team turned their focus to the 2.0 update, disclosing its release date and presenting an overview of three character builds: Savage Slugger, Hack-&-Slash Netrunner, and Bullet-Time Ninja, which will be accessible with the update. As confirmed by the developer, Cyberpunk 2077's 2.0 update is scheduled to launch on September 21, 2023, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, and it will be provided as a free download.
As a cherry on top, CD Projekt also launched an online build planner to help players learn about new perks and attributes.
