Director Chad Stahelski revealed what production phase they are working on and promised to make the adaptation "right".
The director of the upcoming Ghost of Tsushima movie, Chad Stahelski, expressed the desire to make the live-action film that stands out from the other video game adaptations.
In an interview with IGN, the director shared that he wants "to do it right". "You know how video game adaptions can go. So we're taking our time and doing it right. We're working very closely with the game developers to make sure we stick to what's great about it," he explained.
Stahelski also shared that the production crew is still working on the Ghost of Tsushima script and promised that the fans of the game will be satisfied with what they are working on. He added that he was initially drawn to the project as he played the game himself "many times".
In the same interview, Stahelski was also asked if the English voice actor for Jin Sakai, Daisuke Tsuje, would return to his role. However, the director hasn't revealed any casting decisions yet.
Chad Stahelski, best known as a John Wick director, was announced to be the Ghost of Tsushima director in March 2021, along with Sucker Punch's Peter Kang being the executive producer. The movie is going to adapt the former samurai Jin Sakai's story: a quest to protect his home – the island of Tsushima – and liberate it from Mongol invaders.
The release date hasn't been set yet and taking into account that the production is still in the scripting phase no more concrete news will be heard for a while.
