Juhana Myllys, a Game Artist and Designer whom you might remember as the creative mind behind an impressive robotic hand consisting of one million hand-drawn pixels, has recently shared a short demo providing a highly-anticipated update on Bionic Bay.
For those unfamiliar, Bionic Bay is an upcoming sci-fi action platformer currently in development by Juhana, who oversees the art and design aspects, and Psychoflow Studio, responsible for the technical side of the game. Set in a world blending biomechanics with imaginative technology, Bionic Bay offers physics-based gameplay, challenging players to use a unique teleportation mechanic to navigate the game's dangerous levels.
In the latest demo, the artist showed how one of the game's upcoming features came about accidentally while testing out a camera tilt effect with a bullet-time-like slowdown. During the experiments, the artist discovered that thanks to the game's physics-based nature, flipping the world upside down creates hanging ropes, which can be climbed to access previously inaccessible places. This ingenious mechanic opens the door for Bionic Bay to include many hidden areas, encouraging multiple playthroughs to discover them all.
