Check Out These Watercolor-Style Creature Rigs Made in Blender

The artist used animated image textures to achieve the hand-made appearance.

3D Artist Saiyam Marwah has recently impressed hundreds of people over on Reddit with an incredible 2D-looking watercolor-style creature eye rig set up using Blender. According to the creator, the rig functions by utilizing two image textures: one featuring the animated open eye and the other for the blink. The blink state is layered on top of the default state and remains invisible, with their visibility controlled via Geometry Nodes. The creature's watercolor appearance was achieved by hand-painting the entire design and putting it up as animated image textures.

And here's the final animation the rig was prepared for:

Previously, Saiyam also demonstrated how he made a 3D crown adorned with gorgeous gemstones using real-life paper drawings in combination with Blender.
