Check Out This 2D Hand-Drawn Metroidvania If You Like Silksong and Celeste

Check out another beautiful and challenging 2D game coming this November.

You can't get tired of 2D hand-drawn metroidvanias, right? Have a look at Constance, an upcoming hand-drawn action-adventure platformer set for release on November 24, 2025. The game follows an artist armed with a paintbrush who navigates a decaying inner world shaped by her mental health.

Gameplay combines combat, exploration, and puzzle solving with paint-based mechanics that allow the character to dive into walls and floors, move fluidly through environments, and fight enemies. The brush can be upgraded with new techniques over time, supporting both traversal and combat. Players also collect inspirations, which function as sketches that enhance abilities and can be strengthened through gathered materials.

The game’s world is structured around interconnected biomes, each representing aspects of the protagonist’s psyche. Exploration includes discovering upgrades, side quests, and secrets, with corruption serving as a limiting mechanic: overusing brush techniques gradually applies negative effects. Death offers a choice between continuing at a penalty or respawning at a safe point.

Developers describe the movement system as “somewhere in the middle” between the constrained platforming of Celeste and the more open style of Silksong. The most challenging platforming segments are optional, while the main path is designed to remain accessible.

Narrative elements include playable flashbacks that explore themes such as creativity, personal balance, and purpose, tying the biomes and gameplay systems into the broader story framework.
