Check Out This Book-Style Metroidvania with a 2D World Inside 3D
Chronoscript: The Endless End, inspired by Hollow Knight, unfolds its story across 2D manuscript pages and within a 3D manor.
The developer of Chronoscript: The Endless End, an upcoming exploration-based metroidvania from DeskWorks Inc., showcased the game's peculiar feature – a little character explores a 2D level, which is a part of a bigger 3D world.
The game follows the story of a writer trapped within a manuscript, and you need to uncover the mystery of a thousand-year-old tale that continues to write itself. The story is penned by the master of a mysterious manor, another writer, who has lived for a millennium.

Chronoscript is set in two worlds: a 3D manor and the intricate, pen-and-ink-illustrated pages of the writer's manuscript rendered in 2D. The developers explained that what you do in the 2D world will affect the 3D room.
Pages of the 2D world, inspired by classic action platformers, transport you into unique locations, where you fight terrifying enemies and follow the engaging journey. The adventure evolves as you play, with new dynamic ink-traversing moves and unique abilities appearing in the gameplay.

The game is inspired by Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Blasphemous, Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights, Hollow Knight, and other classic metroidvanias. As for Hollow Knight, it has been discovered that the flat-looking world of Silksong isn't actually 2D and is composed of multiple layers that produce the game's parallax effect.
Chronoscript: The Endless End is planned to be released in 2026.
