Artem Erikenov, a talented Grooming Artist who specializes in creating photorealistic 3D hair and fur, continues his series of experiments with digital hairstyles, delighting hundreds with his impressive results.
In his latest demo, the creator showcased a work-in-progress version of a dynamic braid simulation that closely resembles real-life braids in both appearance and movement. According to the author, the braid was set up in Houdini, a procedural 3D software developed by SideFX, and is only the "first iteration" of the project, hinting that we'll see even more awesome showcases further down the line.
Recently, Artem also wowed us with a lifelike 3D white cat model, groomed in Houdini and rendered with Chaos' V-Ray in Maya:
