Check Out This Geometry Nodes Tool for Creating Realistic Carved Wood

The tool can be used for 3D printing, product visualization, or stylized artwork.

Works created with Blender's Geometry Nodes never cease to amaze, and these wood-like 3D models by 3D Artist Eric Charles are an impressive example of such artwork.

The artist has been working on procedural wood grain in Geometry Nodes for adding the effect to 3D prints and making them look as if they were carved out of wood. As shared by Charles, the effect works with most models and can use another mesh as a mask.

The tool, featuring a ready-to-use .blend file, can be used for 3D printing, product visualization, or creating stylized renders.

The generator allows for high customization: you can control ring spacing, wobble, displacement depth, clamp limits, and more. Another key feature is smart masking, as you can use Z-height cutoff for flat bases or mask objects for selective texturing with adjustable soft edges.

You can get the wood grain generator here. Also, don't forget to subscribe to our Newsletter and join our 80 Level Talent platform, follow us on Twitter, LinkedIn, Telegram, and Instagram, where we share breakdowns, the latest news, awesome artworks, and more.
