Check Out This New Free App For Automatic One-Click UV Packing

Based on UV-Packer plug-in, Packer-IO is a standalone app with a user-friendly interface fast-tracking the laborious work of sorting and compressing unwrapped polygons into UV sheets, fully optimized for modern workflows.

The developers of UV-Packer plug-in for 3ds Max, Unreal Engine5, and Blender have released Packer-IO, which takes the same functionality and puts it in a standalone application, making it possible to use with other 3D software and game engines.

Optimized for contemporary workflows and designed to cater to the needs of 3D artists of any kind and industry, including photogrammetry and architectural visualization, Packer-IO streamlines the tiresome process of packing and organizing UV maps with just one click, dealing with high-poly assets and thousands of UV clusters with ease.

Packer IO is also resolution-independent. The space between UV clusters is calculated correctly and exactly distributed over all charts, creating equal distances between all UV clusters without overlapping.

Developers highlight the "sleek, modern UI & UX", as the app is designed to be a compact and practical solution featuring a thoughtfully conceived layout and a user-friendly and attractive interface, avoiding unnecessary configurations.

Artists can import 3D models in common file formats, which can be previewed in the Packer-IO viewport with Object Manager to oversee the components, and the shaders can be dragged right onto the geometry to visualize normals, UV stretching, Checker Maps, and more.

Packer-IO is free and compatible with Windows and macOS, supporting Apple Silicon processors natively. In the comments under the Packer-IO launch video, the developers say that they plan to implement automatic UV unwrapping and retopology in future releases.
