Anthony Koithra presented his Epic MegaGrant application.
As a solo indie filmmaker juggling multiple roles, Anthony Koithra has often envied artists at larger studios who have the advantage of custom pipelines and specialized tools tailored to their workflows.
With this in mind, he set out to refine his own workflow and build tools that not only solved his problems but could also empower others. In the past, we've shared Anthony's MetaHuman Animation Tool, an editor utility widget designed to make animating both MetaHuman face and body much easier and more enjoyable. Now, Anthony is focused on creating a full suite of Unreal Engine animation tools, high-quality, free, and built for indie artists.
He's naming the suite LCAT, Locodrome Character Animation Toolkit, designed to make in-engine character animation easier, faster, and more enjoyable. It includes:
- Locoface, a procedural adaptive face Control Rig for any face skeleton;
- Locoscripts, a pack of time-saving scripts and asset actions;
- Refplayer, a new version of the tool that makes it easier to use reference videos in your project;
- Locopaint, a set of art-directable stylized materials for MetaHuman faces and eyes;
- Locoboing, a collection of dynamic and secondary motion presets,
- Locowalk, a procedural walk, run, and turn animation system,
- MAT 2.0, a new version of the MetaHuman Animation Tool.
Anthony submitted a MegaGrant application for LCAT, so if you're interested in the progress, follow him on LinkedIn for updates. You can also check out his Gumroad for other free Unreal Engine 5 animation tools he's already released.
