Chucklefish Has Given Its Employees a £4,000 Pay Rise

The UK studio announced that it has raised its workers' salaries to help them offset costs of living increases that have hit the UK in recent months.

The UK indie studio Chucklefish, best known as the creator of War Groove, Starbound, and Witchbrook, and the publisher of games like Risk of Rain, Inmost, and the upcoming Wildfrost, revealed that it has raised its workers' salaries by £4,000 to help them offset costs of living increases.

The news was announced by the company's communications manager Alexis Trust who wrote on Twitter: "Management at Chucklefish just announced a £4k pay increase across the company to help with horrid bill increases."

He also noted that the £4,000 pay raise is an addition to the 10% increase that Chucklefish made in April 2022. "Feel extremely lucky right now," he added.

Rising prices in the UK have been a growing problem in recent months. According to data from the Office for National Statistics, the Consumer Prices Index (CPI) rose by 10% in the 12 months to July 2022, up from 9.4% in June.

Several developers have tried to help their employees to cope with the consequences of economic decline. For instance, in early August, another UK studio, Double Eleven, which helped develop LittleBigPlanet, Fallout 76, and other titles, announced that it has raised its employees' salaries by £2,500 as an effort to help its workers with the rising cost of living.
