Closer Look at Intricate Trees from Assassin's Creed Shadows: Claws of Awaji DLC
Julien Manon shows the props he made for the game.
3D artist Julien Manon shared a look at the thick, entwined trees he created for the Assassin's Creed Shadows: Claws of Awaji DLC, along with other biome assets.
The props are covered in moss and emit a distinct, mysterious aura.
"The mystical setting allowed us to try something different. I wanted to step away from the classic Assassin's Creed biome approach to offer a unique visual experience and greater artistic control."
The trees were designed to be highly versatile, featuring a dry variant for windswept coastlines. The artist used shared tileables and a baked normal map with a packed mask created in Substance 3D Painter. "This mask uniquely controls the blending and adds ultra-precise color overlays."
Manon crafted some other assets for the game, too, which you can find on his ArtStation.
