Craft Painterly Textures within Substance 3D with This Smart Material

The Very Normal Paint allows you to edit the Normal Map within Substance 3D Painter without additional baking.

Take a look at this 3D portrait of a stylish goblin with hand-painted textures created by 3D Character Artist Andrea Orioli.

The artwork features not only a unique design, depicting a fantasy creature sporting a fashionable outfit with a modern flair, but also highlights the appealing painterly texturing. Andrea Orioli aimed at creating a painterly look that reacted properly to light sources and have full control over the editing of Normal Map without the need to rebake from world space to Tangent Space Normals each time to view the result.

To do so, the artist created a Substance 3D Painter tool, Very Normal Paint, that allows for painting the Normal Map along with Color and Roughness directly on the model.
