Apparently, a new version of the shooter is in the works and may soon undergo testing.
There are more and more hints on the net that Valve is preparing to release a new version of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive on its Source 2 engine. Most recently, several activities from Valve have been noticed on the CS:GO page on SteamDB.
As spotted by data miner Aquarius, Valve has added Source 2 files to the CS:GO "developer pre-release branch," which suggests that a new version of the shooter is in the works and may soon undergo testing.
In addition, the developers were noticed playing the pre-release version of the shooter utilizing the 1.38.7.0 build (as a point of reference, the current public version is 1.38.5.5).
Previously, CS:GO executable files for the Source 2 engine appeared on the internet – their authenticity was later confirmed by Pavel Djundik, the creator of SteamDB. It appears that the testing for CS:GO on Source 2 will begin soon, but it is not yet clear what changes will be made to the game.
