Bram Gunst, whose water simulation inside a maze filled with rubber ducks we featured previously, has showcased a new project. Initially created for personal use, he's been using it more and more in personal work and has now decided to release it for free.
The video shown is just a simple example, but the developer says that the tool is effective in environments with dense mountains, foliage, or buildings. In such cases, it excels at removing unnecessary detail and geometry that won't be visible, sometimes cutting the polycount by up to 50%.
For instance, Bram used it to eliminate bubbles hidden behind other bubbles, reducing render times by 20%:
