CD Projekt Red announced the upcoming DLC's release date and explained how the expansion improves the original game.
During Sunday's Xbox Games Showcase 2023 event, CD Projekt Red released a new official trailer for Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, an upcoming "spy-thriller expansion" to the studio's 2020 sci-fi action-adventure.
With the new trailer, mainly focused on the DLC's story, the developer showcased Night City's new Dogtown district, where the expansion is set to take place, shared another look at Solomon Reed, a new character played by Idris Elba, and revealed that the expansion's main mission is to save the president of the New United States. Furthermore, the trailer has also revealed Phantom Liberty's release trailer, stating that the long-awaited DLC will be available on September 26, 2023, for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
After unveiling the trailer, CD Projekt Red's Creative Director Paweł Sasko also commented on Phantom Liberty's gameplay improvements, saying that all the core elements of the game have undergone significant revamps or updates.
In an interview with VGC, Sasko disclosed that the DLC brings about a complete overhaul of the game's perks and skill trees, resulting in a comprehensive rebuild. Additionally, it introduces vehicle combat, expands the game's AI capabilities, and enhances the police system.
The difficulty curve and enemies have been revamped, while the UI has been updated for a more immersive experience. The open world of Cyberpunk 2077 has also received enhancements, making it feel more dynamic and vibrant. Sasko further added that there are very few systems within the game that have not been modified or updated in some way by Phantom Liberty.
