The developer used Apple's new game porting toolkit to run the game.
In case you missed it, during the recently-held Worldwide Developers Conference 2023, Apple revealed a brand-new game porting toolkit, designed to drastically simplify the process of bringing Windows titles to macOS devices.
By providing an emulation environment to assess the compatibility and performance of existing Windows games on Mac, the toolkit lets developers analyze a game's potential performance instantly, eliminating the need for extensive upfront work that could take months to complete. Moreover, the toolkit enables creators to run DirectX 12 Windows games seamlessly on Mac devices.
Within a week of the announcement, multiple developers have already experimented with Apple's game porting toolkit, showcasing Windows games running on macOS computers. One notable experiment comes from Developer and Mac enthusiast Isaac Marovitz, who leveraged the toolkit to run CDPR's Cyberpunk 2077 on M1 MacBook Pro with 16 GBs of RAM. According to the developer, macOS-powered CP2077 is running at about 15 FPS on Ultra settings with a resolution of 1440x900.
