You can try out Portalgraph VR projection yourself with Unity.
Though it's important to note that this is not a real hologram, Portalgraph, a technology that lets you enjoy VR spaces with a projector, looks like it could unlock great opportunities for virtual performances, such as VTuber and Vocaloid shows.
It creates the illusion of an actual space within the projector screen, allowing users to peek into it in 3D from any direction. Portalgraph can project VR spaces onto various surfaces, including boxes made of multiple displays, among other surfaces, like the poor girl stuck in the demo above.
By detecting the user's viewpoint, Portalgraph generates a 3D display that adapts to their perspective. This is done through facial recognition with a webcam or by using a VIVE tracker on the user's head. The 3D display works with a range of devices, such as 3D projectors, 3D TVs, and anaglyph glasses, and developers can easily create demos with Unity.
This technology can be applied in various settings, including educational environments, virtual events, exhibitions, and beyond. An individual-use SDK is available for $50, but you can try out free demos first. Learn more about Portalgraph here and see more of it below:
