Dave the Diver, developed by Mintrocket Studios, entered early access in October 2022, and on June 28, 2023, the development team finally launched its full version. The game managed to quickly gain popularity and climb to the top of the Steam charts.
On July 11, the team behind the underwater sushi adventure revealed that sales had reached one million copies. You can now play the game on PC and Mac, but the team also plans to bring Dave the Diver to the Switch console later this year.
The project is a casual, single-player adventure RPG offering deep-sea exploration and fishing during the day and sushi restaurant management at night (make some sushi while waiting for the third season of The Bear). There's also a mystery element as Dave has to uncover underwater secrets.
I have played the Early Access version of the game and the experience was phenomenal. The developers managed to create a complex gameplay system that makes you spend hours getting to the next upgrade but at the same time, it doesn't feel overwhelming. I should schedule a weekend to finish the final version.
